Polygon Health Analytics Showcases AI-Driven SLE Research and Social Media Evidence at ISPOR 2026

Philadelphia, PA — Polygon Health Analytics LLC will present new research and lead an interactive workshop at the ISPOR 2026 Annual Conference, May 17–20, 2026, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA. Both sessions highlight how artificial intelligence (AI) and social media listening enable scalable, patient-centered insights for drug development and real-world evidence generation.

Podium Presentation: Advancing AI-Driven Insights in SLE

Polygon Health Analytics’ study, “Listening at Scale: AI-Powered Insights into Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patient Needs from Social Media,” has been accepted for a podium presentation in “New Frontiers in Large Language Models,” on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM.

The study evaluated large language models (LLMs) to analyze social media data and identify unmet needs among SLE patients. Of 4,633 Reddit posts collected, 2,603 were retained after removing duplicates, promotional content, and incomplete entries.

A manually developed codebook identified six themes and 40 subthemes, enabling automated labeling using Google Gemini 3.0 Pro and OpenAI GPT-5.2. Both models demonstrated performance comparable to human evaluators, with 94.4% average agreement and a Cohen’s kappa of 0.67.

Key themes included advice-seeking, emotional coping, pain, systemic symptoms, and flares. Patients also frequently reported medication concerns, diagnostic uncertainty, emotional impact, provider dismissal, access issues, and lifestyle adjustments. The findings show that LLMs can efficiently analyze unstructured social data at scale, complementing traditional qualitative research and aligning with FDA guidance.

Workshop: Expanding Real-World Evidence Beyond Traditional Data Sources

Polygon Health Analytics will also lead a workshop, “Beyond Claims and EHRs: Social Media as Real-World Evidence to Uncover Patient Experiences and Unmet Needs,” on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM.

Based on the FDA’s 2022 guidance recognizing social media as a source of patient experience data, the session will cover social media listening (SML) methods, study design, data quality, and privacy. It will highlight how SML complements traditional evidence, addresses gaps in rare diseases, and supports patient-centered drug development.

The workshop will also present NLP and LLM approaches for analyzing unstructured data, share real-world applications in vaccines and autoimmune diseases, and conclude with an interactive panel using QR-based audience polling.

Why SML Matters for Patient-Focused Drug Development & HEOR
